A little unusual, tonight we have a wine country farm hour kitchen reveal I shot at my parents house! Two years ago, my parents moved into my maternal grandmother’s home in Marin County after she passed away. The home has immense sentimental value so for them to make it their forever home was a dream come true. Sitting just north of San Francisco and just south of Wine Country, the home has striking wrap around, unobstructed views looking over undeveloped golden hills. I don’t have before pics, but I thought it would be fun to share the after!
This kitchen was originally half as deep, with a breakfast nook running along the back windows. My parents ripped that out, rotated the kitchen, raised the windows to counter height. They installed a massive 8 foot by 8 foot kitchen island with the sink, secondary oven, dishwasher and under counter storage. The back wall has floor to ceiling pantry cabinets with the built-in fridge. The main wall with the range has floating wood shelves and subway tile running all the way to the pitch of the ceiling. On the outward facing wall, a coffee station, wine coolers and glass front cabinetry.
What makes this kitchen SO special is that my parents did the entire thing themselves! From installing the wide plank oak flooring, to tiling all the way up the walls, running the electrical installing the cabinets and building the shelves. My favorite part of the kitchen is the baking corner. My parents took an antique sideboard, had the Carrera marble counter fitted to match the rest of the kitchen. Most of the decor is collected or vintage, but if you have any questions about sources, let me know in the comments below!
