True classics never go out of style, hence why they are classic through and through. But sometimes a rebrand is in order. One piece that we are seeing reimagined in such a cool, fresh way is the four-poster bed. These beauties date back to the 15th century, making them no stranger to a luxury bedroom with a royal address. But now, they are popping up right and left, and this new crop is putting a modern spin on a classic silhouette.
Not only do they encompass tradition and luxury and feel super elegant in a room but they fit a myriad of different styles. Think you’re not a four-poster bed kind of person? Think again! Before you say no thank you, those beds are only for grannies and royals, have a look at four ways designers are styling canopy and four-poster beds. Gone are the days of overly ornate but that same stately feel is still there and more beautiful than ever.
Because four-poster beds are rooted in the classics, it is a given that they work beautifully with traditional style. While still leaning into modern lines, the below examples are layered in neutrals, complemented with pale woods and exuding a truly romantic feel. Would you ever get out of bed? Nope.

Casual elegance is the name of this game. These four-posters are awash in white and paired with texture and light, airy neutrals for a look that invokes a comfortable, breezy seaside retreat. We’re feeling those vacation vibes.
Another way to go a bit more casual with the look is to choose a four-poster bed without the canopy. This style feels a little more approachable yet still has a grand presence in a room.

Both dramatic and striking, four-poster beds fit perfectly with modern decor. This look works best with sleek silhouettes and little to no adornment — case in point, the black metal versions below.

Kids’ four-poster beds might be our favorite rendition of the classic. To the point where we should rename this category – Little Rooms that Adults are Openly Jealous Of. From bright hues to matching twin four posters, have a look at how designers are adding a dash of whimsy.
