If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know we’re smack dab in the middle of an IDCO office revamp with fresh paint going up on the walls as we speak. This move to a new office has given us a clean slate to reimagine our daily workspace, with a careful balance of form and the function guiding every last decision. While we still have a way to go before our big reveal, we couldn’t help but cover office essentials today on the blog. Whether you’re working from home or have a dedicated studio, we’re highlighting 10 items every office needs. Plus, we’re sharing exactly which pieces are making an appearance in our new space.

Purchasing a great desk is always a given, but don’t limit yourself to office furniture alone. We LOVE using dining tables as desks for the extra surface space to spread out and get into work mode. Plus, we’ve found multi-purpose office furniture is much more functional to swap around in other rooms down the line.
In our new office, we opted for vintage french folding tables with zinc tops. But this long CB2 dining table and this CB2 oval desk were both major contenders. If you’re thinking about using a dining table as a desk, just make sure to avoid anything with uneven surfaces (think rustic wooden boards), as it’s really difficult to write on anything that’s not completely smooth.
Everyone wants a pretty office chair, but functional considerations are so important for a chair you’ll be using all day long. Luckily, we found the perfect happy medium with these West Elm Holland chairs that gave us the aesthetic we wanted and the comfort we needed. Seriously, these chairs are SO COMFORTABLE it’s crazy.
If there’s one thing that’s true of all offices, it’s that everyone needs more organization. Avoid the desk clutter struggle with a good storage unit to keep those extra papers out of sight. We purchased two of these fully assembled double dressers and I have to say, we were so impressed with the look and quality.

Our team uses these leather desk blotters when working on metal surfaces, and we highly recommend. They’re a really great way to protect your surface and make sure your desk stays in top-notch condition.
We’ve never met a bookshelf we didn’t want to style, but these beauties from France&Son were one of our favorite styling moments yet. We’ve shared a few peeks on IG Stories, but you can count on us rearranging these beautiful shelves on the regular.
We all have hordes of digital inspiration sitting on our phones, but we really believe every creative professional need a space for physical inspiration in their office. We picked up six of these linen pinboards, and they’re super oversized and pretty.

Whether you’ve got client meetings or the occasional visitor dropping by, additional seating is always an office essential. Two of these velvet swivel chairs are making their debut in our office, and we can’t wait to put them to good use.
Workday productivity can sometimes be a struggle, but we’ve found a great playlist helps us get in the ‘deep work’ mindset. We love using this Sonos speaker to throw on our favorite music, plus it’s discreet enough to blend in nearly anywhere.

You know we love the Samsung Frame TV, and it’s also found its way into our office. We use it for presentations or even inspiration sourcing since you can easily AirPlay from a laptop.
No office set-up is complete without an amazing monitor to work from. We’re partial to this Acer HD Monitor that’s pretty, affordable, and super high-quality. In fact, we’ve used this exact monitor for the past four years, and it’s held up beautifully.
