The April Favorites List: Eco-Conscious Edition

We dedicate a blog post to our IDCO Studio team’s favorite things each month. It’s often a mix of home decor, wardrobe updates, skincare purchases, or anything we’re loving at that particular moment. In honor of Earth Day in April, we’re applying that same concept to our eco-conscious favorites. Thanks to our savvy team spread throughout the world, we’ve managed to crowdsource great selections in every category, from the prettiest recycled glassware to a must-read book for sustainable living practices. We’re aiming to take small steps towards bettering the planet, starting with our own homes.

for your home

SDH Linen Wash by Bedside Manor Ltd.

Leigh from the editorial team is known as our resident cool girl. She has great tastes in everything from fashion to food, and this month she shared her eco-friendly household essential. “I swear by this laundry detergent. It has no yucky stuff in it, and it works so well. It’s also very concentrated. One bottle lasts me almost a year, which means less plastic waste.”

Dried Botanicals from Bloomist

We always incorporate florals, branches, or greenery whenever we plan styled shoots for the upcoming seasonal content. If fresh greens aren’t available in our backyard, we’ve really loved working with dried botanicals from Bloomist. Options like this pink dried heather look pretty in a bouquet, and this dried tumbleweed is so fun to style in a bowl. Bloomist also has an entire EcoFaux collection, not to mention sustainably-made vessels like their white walnut bell vase.

Zero VOC Paint by Clare Paint

You might remember that we used Clare Paint in our kitchen remodel on both the cabinets and shiplap. Since then, our team has become a big fan of their eco-friendly product line. Clare produces zero VOC (volatile organic compounds) paint, which means it’s kinder to you and the planet.

Recycled Glassware Collection by Hawkins

If you’re looking for glassware with an eco-friendly spin, investing in recycled glassware is your best bet. Steph from our editorial team is obsessed with these Hawkins tumblers, which beautifully holds up with day-to-day use.

Glass Food Storage Containers

The Casey household is definitely team leftovers, but risking leaked toxins from plastic containers is a nonstarter. Instead, Anastasia always opts for glass tupperware containers for both safety and sustainability.

Girlfriend Collective Activewear

Our entire team loves Girlfriend Collective for their recycled plastic activewear. Their best-seller leggings and racerback bra have become our workout uniform in recent years. This size-inclusive brand also prioritizes diverse art direction, which is another huge plus.

Paravel Carry-On Plus

Not only is Paravel luggage easy on the eyes, but it’s made with upcycled plastic water bottles, vegan leather, and recycled aluminum handles. We’ve been traveling a lot for conferences, team retreats, and Design Camp LA, so trust us when we say we’ve put this carry-on to the test.

Jenni Kayne Boyfriend Cardigan

Jenni Kayne can do no wrong, and their new “eco group” clothing collection is yet another example. This cute boyfriend sweater is made using recycled polyester, and it’s so easy to style up or down. Order + save 15% with code IDCO15

Maelove Skincare

Maelove is a new beauty brand that we’re VERY into for their sustainable and vegan practices. They’re known for their “Glow Maker” serum, but you can shop all kinds of fun products on their website.

Kiss the Ground on Netflix

We don’t typically recommend climate change documentaries, but we made an exception for this buzzed-about film. Our Studio Director, Jenn, confirmed it’s filled with solid information and even has a pretty optimistic outlook.

Simply Living Well by Julia Watkins

Our copywriter, Carmen, is always on a mission to learn more about sustainable living practices and reduce waste within her household. This book by Julia Watkins has become her go-to resource, and she also recommends following Julia on ‘the ‘gram.
