I think most of us tend to take a hiatus from curated outfits in the lazy days of summer. But come fall? It’s time to bring our A-game in the wardrobe department. This season is taking me from Design Camp in Austin to travel adventures in Europe to a team retreat in Minnesota—so a few closet updates were definitely in order.
The catch? I really value investing in quality over quantity, so I didn’t want to shop without a plan. My quest for some fresh fall outfits began right in my closet, taking stock of the pieces I already own. From there, I pinpointed a few gaps to be filled, prioritizing versatility for endless combinations. I’m excited to share the seven fall outfits I came up with, and I hope it’ll inspire you to grab a new piece or two while shopping your own closet in the process.

I love how a neutral blazer makes a slip dress feel instantly office-friendly. The “burnished pecan” color is perfect for fall, and the length fits just above the knee. Just add ankle booties, and you’re set.

Fall outfits and faux leather go hand-in-hand. These shorts are perfect transitional piece for the warm September/October weather in Austin, and look so cute with a tucked drapey blouse.

Some events like Design Camp call for a bold look, and I’m always happy to oblige. This time around, I went faux leather-on-leather while adding balance with a classic white camisole. This shorts and blazer combo works great together, but they also pair beautifully with so many other pieces in my closet.

Every fall capsule needs a black and white sweater—at least in my opinion. The stripes bring a timeless appeal, and it couldn’t look cuter layered over a sheer white blouse.

My upcoming trip to Europe sent me searching high and low for the perfect trench coat. It look a few tries, but this was the official winner. It’s one of those versatile wardrobe staples I hope to keep for the long haul.

Jenni Kayne can do no wrong, especially when it comes to cozy knits. This oversized cardigan works great with denim, but I paired it with a midi skirt for a more unexpected look.

Is it even fall if you’re not rocking a checked trench coat? Wear this over any neutral outfit for instant cool-girl appeal.

Anastasia I love all of these outfit combinations and you are rocking each look! The slip dress is calling my name! I just came back from a 12 day trip to London then Greece and I travelled with a carry-on bag only so a capsule wardrobe was essential. While in London especially, I noticed that EVERYONE was wearing “trainers” ie sneakers with every type of outfit…once I noticed it, I couldn’t stop staring at everyone’s feet and having sneaker envy!
Hi Kerri – Stephanie from the The Identite Collective team here! First of all, I hope you had a fantastic time in London and Greece! And you are absolutely right on the popularity of sneakers paired with any outfit. They are particularly cute with a casual dress for style + comfort. Hope the sneakers trend is here to stay!
