Meet the new neutral taking over the kitchen world and our Pinterest feeds. Forget white, forget grey, it’s all about Mushroom paint. This putty color genre is everywhere and we are 100% on board as evident by Anastasia’s current kitchen renovation. See everything she is planning right here and get ready for the grand reveal in a few weeks! In the meantime, you can follow along on Instagram Stories for behind the scenes action and lots of design updates.
Mushroom is surpassing the longstanding classic white kitchen and the result is a warmer, cozier version of neutral. We love this look paired with classic marble, natural wood tones, matte black accents, or raw brass hardware just to name a few.
Below we’ve rounded up beautiful spaces awash in greige from some of our favorite designers plus a roundup of the best Mushroom paint colors if you are wanting to try this trend on for size.

White has long been a constant color in interiors, especially kitchens and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. It’s just getting a warm-up with an earthy, beige infusion. We call it mushroom and its color wheel leans towards putty hues ranging from barely there to a deep greige. Here are sixteen of our favorite paints perfect for mushroom colored cabinetry.

Hello, I am planning a kitchen remodel. I have honey maple cabinets & maron cohiba granite. It’s a very dark brown, but comes off as black. I would like to professionally spray my cabinets. Thinking of bone, cream or mushroom. Trying to decide on counters. In these photos did you use all real marble? I LOVE marble. I have it in 2 bathrooms, granite in master & quartz in girls bath. My husband is terrified of marble staining. I cook a lot & we drink a lot of red wine. What counter surfaces would you recommend. I want it to be gorgeous! I tried clicking on your link for other white counters, but it wouldn’t work. Thank you, Kathey
This helped me a lot! Picking the exact right color can be overwhelming and I feel closer now. Do you know the name and brand of the mushroom-colored paints in the Bodega House, also in the Prarie Home Styling shots? Also the gorgeous tiles in the Bodega house! Any leads on where to find them?
Where can I find the date on your articles. When it comes to decor trends, I really find the date helpful.
Thank you for rounding up these gorgeous examples! I only wish you had included paint colors somehow to the pictures…
Agreed!
Another fabulous mushroom/putty paint color is Sherwin Williams Urban Putty. Photos online don’t do it justice. I get asked all the time what color my walls are painted. Loved your post.
