Why We Chose Limited Release Website Templates

We’re continuing our blog series about our new website templates (launching in just two days!) with an in-depth answer to an important and frequently asked question: Why limited release?

The short answer: we pride ourselves in doing things a little differently at IDCO. When we decided to create templates (more on that decision here), we wanted to add something to the market that we felt was actually needed. We searched and Googled, but didn’t find any other website templates that were limited release. The templates we found—even the beautiful, high-end ones—were available to any and everyone who wanted to purchase them, so there was no limit to how many people could have the same website. Below are the main reasons that set-up just didn’t feel right for us.

Preventing Oversaturation in the Interior Design Industry

All of our products have a target market: interior designers! We create and design every single element with them and their businesses in mind. Because our focus is on a specific industry, it was important to ensure the same template wouldn’t be over-used within that community, thus preventing oversaturation in a niche market. Would it have been more profitable to create one-size-fits-all templates? Probably so, but our clients deserve a gorgeous and functional site that meets their unique needs. Plus, staying in our wheelhouse meant that we could channel our experience and expertise to create a template that is refined and covers all bases.

We didn’t want to sacrifice exclusivity

Having a small team means that we can’t take on every single project. That can be frustrating at times, but mostly we have found it to be of great benefit. It gives us the ability to be selective and to truly devote all of our creative energy to the handful of projects we have in the queue. Our custom IDCO sites are handcrafted from scratch, and even with our templates, we wanted to maintain that same feeling. We believe in bespoke, high-end, minimal design and the exclusivity that comes with that.

We wanted to keep the client experience

Keeping the release number to 10 sales per template means we can truly provide top-tier, one-on-one support. For three weeks after your template is transferred to your account, our team is readily available to help walk you through anything you get stuck on. If we had an unlimited number to our templates, it would be impossible to provide that kind of personal attention. Our ongoing communication with our clients will ensure that their sites get set up the way they want and that they feel confident in their investment.

Additionally, because of the limited number of monthly sales, we will be offering add-on services like design proposals, custom social media graphics, and an editorial social media calendar to those clients who want a little extra help. These add-ons will be released shortly after the launch of our templates, allowing people time to get their sites together before a full marketing overhaul.
